mountains each shaped in its own way, silent reminders of the countries more violent geological history. Travelling farther east you will become aware of how the sea must have been an unforgiving
neighbour at times and shaped the lives of the people living a long the coast of Melrakkaslétta. A mysterious but yet fascinating place to travel and you wont get any farther north than on
Melrakkaslétta because there you will find two of the northest points of Iceland namely Rif and Hraunhafnartangi. Melrakkaslétta is also the bird watchers paradise.
Kópasker is the only town in this area. There you will find all the service you need, such as a shopping center, gas station, guest house, camping site, post office, a bank, a garage
etc.
